Lip Blushing
Kiss Faded Lips Goodbye
Lip blush tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment designed to enhance the natural colour, shape, and definition of your lips. Using a specialised digital tattooing device, pigment is carefully implanted into the lips to create a soft, flushed look, similar to a natural tint or light lipstick. Unlike traditional permanent makeup, lip blush focuses on subtle enhancement, improving symmetry, evening out tone, and giving the illusion of fuller, more youthful lips. The result is a long-lasting, low-maintenance glow that can be customised to suit your unique style and complexion.

What is involved in the lip blushing appointment?
The process begins with a consultation to determine the desired shade and shape that complements the client's features. After numbing the lips with a topical aesthetic to minimise discomfort, a specialised tattooing device is used to deposit pigment into the lips using fine, controlled strokes. The technique builds up colour gradually for a natural, soft-blush effect. The procedure typically takes 2–3 hours, including prep time. Aftercare is crucial and includes keeping the lips moisturised, avoiding certain foods and products, and allowing the pigment to settle and heal properly over the following weeks.
What pigments are used?
Quality and safety were at the forefront of our minds when selecting the perfect pigments for our lip blushing procedures. All pigments used at Skintique are specifically manufactured for implantation into human skin and have been safely used for over 20 years. Our pigments are imported from a reputable US manufacturer and have been fully tested by authorities to check for safety.
We are committed to finding the ideal colour for each client’s skin tone and features, which is why we have an extensive selection of colours – ranging from very light to very dark. We are also able to mix pigment colours to find the perfect shade for our clients.
How will my lips look following the treatment?
Immediately following a lip blush tattoo appointment, your lips will appear more vibrant and fuller in colour than the final healed result. They may also be swollen, tender, and slightly red around the edges, which is completely normal and usually subsides within 24–48 hours. Over the next few days, the colour will begin to soften as your lips go through a healing process that includes light peeling or flaking. It's common for the pigment to appear patchy or faded during healing, but this settles over time. The true, more natural-looking colour will reveal itself within 4–6 weeks, at which point a touch-up may be scheduled to perfect the results. Keeping your lips hydrated and following all aftercare instructions is key to optimal healing.
What kind of Aftercare is needed?
Aftercare is essential for proper healing and long-lasting results after a lip blush tattoo. Here’s what’s typically involved:
- Keep lips clean and dry – For the first few days, avoid getting your lips wet. Use a damp cotton pad if cleaning is needed, but avoid excessive moisture.
- Apply a healing balm – Use the recommended ointment (usually a fragrance-free, healing balm) regularly to keep the lips hydrated and protected.
- Avoid picking or peeling – As your lips heal, they may flake or peel. Do not pick at the skin, as this can affect pigment retention and cause scarring.
- Avoid certain foods and drinks – Stay away from spicy, salty, or acidic foods and drinks for a few days, as they can irritate the lips. Use a straw to minimise contact.
- No makeup on the lips – Avoid wearing lipstick or lip gloss until fully healed to prevent infection or irritation.
- Limit sun exposure – Keep lips out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds. Once healed, use SPF to protect the pigment from fading.
- Avoid excessive sweating – For about a week, try to limit intense exercise and saunas, as sweat can interfere with healing.
- Don’t smoke or kiss – Smoking and kissing can introduce bacteria to healing lips and should be avoided during the first few days.
Following these aftercare steps helps ensure even healing, better pigment retention, and a beautiful, long-lasting result. A touch-up appointment is usually recommended after 6–8 weeks.
