Commonly referred to as IPL, the light-based treatment is safe and non-invasive, emitting a broad-spectrum output of light that permanently reduces hair growth.
What should I expect?
IPL Permanent Hair Reduction works by emitting highly controlled pulses of light through a smooth, transparent hand piece that targets the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface. The pigment in the hair absorbs this light, which heats and damages the follicle to prevent future regrowth. It's safe for Fitzpatrick skin types 1–4.
Before treatment, the area will be shaved, a conductive gel applied, and protective goggles provided. As the light pulses are applied, you will feel a warm flicking sensation.
After the session, you may notice temporary redness or slight follicle swelling, both are normal signs that the treatment has successfully targeted the follicles. Hair in the treated area typically begins to shed within 3–14 days.
Most clients will need a series of 6–12 sessions for optimal, long-lasting results, and because there is usually no downtime, you can return to your regular activities immediately after each treatment, however will need to avoid anything that induces heat such a exercise and warm showers, 24 hours post treatment.
