Teeth Whitening

AFTERCARE PROMISE

At Skintique, whilst we’re committed to achieving your aesthetic goals, your health and wellbeing come first.

That’s why we have a team of registered nurses and dermal and beauty therapists on hand, that will be there for you every step of the way. Before any teeth whitening treatment is performed, they’ll join you at your complimentary consultation to discuss your past and present medical history at length, to ensure the procedure is right for you.

Following the treatment, if you have any queries, they’re on call to answer your concerns.

Whiter, brighter, teeth is just a visit away. Cosmetic teeth whitening doesn’t only give long lasting results, but it’s cost-effective, fast and painless.

At Skintique, we offer carbamide peroxide gel teeth whitening. Carbamide peroxide is a whitening agent that has a long expiry and remains stable and active; this means that you’ll always obtain the best results possible.

How white will my teeth be post-treatment?

The amount of shades achieved in a whitening session varies completely from person-to-person. It will also be dependent on the level and colour of your teeth at the beginning of the session, the natural level of your teeth and the integrity of your enamel. The average results and shades of lift are as follows:

  • In 30 minutes, you can expect 3-6 shades of lift.
  • In 1 hour, you can expect 6-10 shades of lift.
  • In 1.5 hours, you can expect up to 10+ shades of lift.

Does teeth whitening hurt?

Most of our clients have told us that they only feel slight sensation or sensitivity during or after the treatment, or none at all!

It’s possible to experience some minor sensitivity following the procedure, however, this only affects a very small percentage of people; if you do feel this sensation, we suggest avoiding very hot or cold drinks for the first 24 hours and using a sensitive toothpaste.

What can I expect on the day?

When you arrive at our clinic, we’ll ask you to fill out a consultation form. We’ll then check for any contraindications, which will ensure that we can administer the treatment safely and effectively.

Before commencing the treatment, we’ll measure the level of your teeth on the teeth chart; this will determine the starting level of your teeth, after which we’ll apply a barrier cream on and around your lips and a vitamin E barrier lotion to soothe your gums. After placing a cheek retractor in your mouth, we’ll apply the whitening gel to your teeth: the gel is then activated with a cool, light blue LED, which is when the brightening process begins!

Depending on which treatment you select, the procedure can take anywhere from 30
to 90 minutes; the whitening gel is reapplied at every 15 minute interval. Once the procedure has been completed, we then take another shade measurement of your teeth and compare it to your original starting level, so that you can see exactly how many shades of lift you’ve achieved.

Aftercare

We recommend that for up to 48 hours after a whitening treatment, any dark staining
substances should be avoided. These include coffee, tea, red wine, brightly coloured soft drinks and cordials, tobacco and cigarettes, tomato-based sauces and curry.

We have a choice of carbamide peroxide, or non-peroxide take home kits, as well as touch up pens. Using aftercare products will help you maintain the results that you’ve achieved at our clinic and will also work to further enhance your teeth’s level of lift.

Aftercare kits are safe and easy to use, with instructions for correct use included.
